Wellington Malayalee - The saga of Kerala immigrants in Wellington dates back to nearly four decades. Creative evolution is inevitable in any and every growing society, and as the numbers grow, so do the needs, issues, as well as the relevance for integration. In order to achieve that while efficiently address our concerns and advocate our ideals kerala Community in Wellington need to achieve a community oriented identification as a socially proactive ethnic group. To accelerate this inevitable integration there is a need to bring all Malayalees in the Wellington Region under one umbrella. This integrative thinking is based only in equality and transcends any religious, social, financial, or educational background. Wellingon Malayalee Association is the outcome of such a thinking.
The mission of Wellington Malayalee association is based on "Servant Leadership".
The major orientation of WMA will be in Service to each and everyone around us without any classifications which is within our capability. Innovative and effective leadership to spearhead our community activities with an emphasis on safe guarding our cultural heritage so as to transmit it to our next generation without losing its legacy, liveliness and majesty will be always our priority. Wellington Malayalee Association sincerely believe the warmth and energy we acquire by the togetherness of coming under a liberal Kerala Community Organisation will enhance our community as well as its members the spirit to address our Social Responsibilities.
